Welcome to 1st Grade at South Newton
iPads in 1st Grade
We have a set of 13 iPads in our classroom. That is enough Ipads to have partners share an iPad or use them in small groups.
We have lots of educational apps to use. It seems there is always a new and innovative way to use the iPads in the classroom.
So far we have learned how to turn them on/off, unlock the screen, carry them safely and take pictures.
Room 312
THE BEE ABOUT ITS
Room 312 is a GREAT place to bee!!
Part of the reason is our motto: "Don't talk about it. BEE about it." We strive to follow directions the first time and use our time wisely each day. When students are Beeing about it they may receive a caught ya bee. After collecting 4 bees they move onto the beehive and each Tuesday will join the other "bee about its" for a lunch club in the classroom.

Mystery Reader
Each Friday in Room 312 we have a special Mystery Reader visit. The Mystery Reader will be a staff member, community member, or a student’s family member. The Mystery Reader may bring a story or read one of mine. I will send a calendar home with each student for you to pick dates that would work for a person from your family to be a Mystery Reader. After I make a master calendar, I will confirm dates with all the readers. Don’t forget we love to have moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas, and aunts and uncles read to us!
